My First Infographics made with Piktochart
I made my first ever infographic using an app called Piktochart. If you're interested in what Piktochart is, check out the demo video to the right so that you have a basic idea of what I used to create the infographic that you see at the bottom right hand side of the page.
Being able to make infographics can be a very helpful tool for teachers to incorporate in the classroom. Infographics allow teachers to quickly and efficiently put information together in both pictures and words. Often, teachers try to put all their instructions in word form, but infographics allow teachers to put out their information in ways that are visually more "hands-on." Students love being able to look at something and understand the content in simple ways. Words can be overwhelming, but giving them something they can visually process better can greatly enhance their educational experiences. Piktochart is a great app to allow teachers to do this. Piktochart is a free app that you can easily download and use. It can also be used from a computer by accessing the website. I have included a picture of the app and a link to both the app and the website depending on if you are viewing this post from a computer, tablet, or phone at the bottom of the text. Piktochart is easy to edit from. There are already made templates that look professional and are easy to use. I used a template to create the infographic about the 12 Bar Blues to the right. Piktochart includes text formats, images, and icons that will most likely work with whatever topic you are using. You can also upload and use your own images when using the app. In the infographic I created, you can see a chord chart that I uploaded from the internet. It was easy to download the image and then drag it into the infographic using the graphics tool. Much of learning how to use Piktochart is simply using the app. I think you will find it easy to learn as the tools are self explanatory and well labeled. If you have any experience with graphic design I believe you will find this app easy to use and create infographics with. If not, do not worry, there are videos and tutorials you can find online and through the app to help you learn the process of using it. Teachers, this is a create way to organize your content into ways that are easy to understand and fun to look at. I think you'll find that your students will love seeing information in this form! |
