Artifact Explained -
On February 18, 2019 I was able to attend a high school professional development. It was a fantastic day of learning. I was able to go to a few different sessions where I learned about ways of teaching students time management by using a clock that they can draw on and allot time for different activities to see where their problems may occur. We discussed strong executive functions vs. week ones and how to tell if students can picture events in their heads (think ahead). Most of our professional development (at least the sessions I went to) guided us towards understanding how to help individual students succeed. This is crucial in the band setting. I was able to attend a session which discussed our health as teachers as well as another that talked about the well being and direction of the district. All of this aided me towards understanding my practice better. I am a more informed teacher with my students and their sphere of influence because of what I now know and the fact that I understand how to engage in a day of professional development.
